Bart Scott Keeping it Classy
Clearly Bart Scott isn't feeling quite as exuberant as he was after the Jets Playoff victory over the New England Patriots almost a year ago. Obviously pissed off about missing the postseason for the first time since joining the New York Jets, Bart Scott was not interested in talking to reporters.
He probably Cant Wait for the 2012 season.

The 2012 NFL Playoff Matchups We Want to See
It seems like only yesterday we were fretting over whether there would even be a 2011 NFL season. We got one, and somehow it's already just about finished.
With Week 16 in the books, it is about time to start taking a long hard look at the playoffs.
There are only a few berths left to decide, so Week 17 will be mostly about positioning. The upcoming playoff picture is an interesting one no matter how you look at it, with the Detroit Lions in their first postseason since 1999 and the Houston Texans in their first since—ever.
Between the 12 teams in the playoffs, there are a few possible matchups that should be on everyone's holiday wish list, along with a throng of games that would cause the salivation of NFL fans everywhere.

Saving Money
Thanks for the post from Al Mills
Saving money has become a game in our house and it’s actually been a lot of fun. The kids don’t necessarily understand why they’ve had to give up so many of their favorite things but they’re participating and it’s actually helping us get by paycheck to paycheck right now until my husband’s able to find a new job. I love him to death but it was hard on all of us when he got laid off last year and we’ve been working to recover ever since. We sold the second car and looked for some good dish deals so we wouldn’t disrupt the kids’ lifestyle too much and I know we’ve cut back on our general shopping and whatnot. I know that my husband feels bad he can’t do more but at the end of the day he’s a wonderful man and I’m so proud of what all he’s been able to accomplish for us. It won’t be long before we get back on our feet and I’m sure of it!

Brian Cushing: Tough Guy, Manimal or Lunatic?
Obviously for the 2011 Houston Texans, playing the lowly Cleveland Browns in November was not much of a test.
That didn't mean that All-Pro linebacker Brian Cushing was playing with any less of his usual firey demeanor. Clearly he doesn't like any "Big Fat F*ck" that tries to take him on.
The major question we have to ask, is what possessed this guy to TAKE OFF HIS HELMET? To prove he's just that awesome?

A Post for All of Our New York Fans
Here we are people. The major crossroads for the New York Giants and New York Jets. Both of our city's teams need to scrape out a win today to keep their destinies in their own hands.
The Jets have the favorable game against the Kansas City Chiefs, though the Chiefs are now firmly settled into the spoiler role after upsetting the Chicago Bears last weekend. A loss here would hurt badly due to the Chiefs being a conference opponent, where the Jets have not fared quite as well this season as they have against NFC teams. Recent history tells us that this is right where the Jets should get hot for a playoff run, and they had better hope Mark Sanchez sticks to that formula today. Fact: Mark Sanchez and Rex Ryan have yet to miss the playoffs together.
The New York Giants' season is more on the line tonight. A loss to the division rival Cowboys while already sitting a game behind in the NFC East could seal the deal for the Giants, not to mention Tom Coughlin and his staff. Recent history tells us that this is the part of the season where the Giants start to flop. They'll have to buck that trend if they want to avoid a three-year playoff drought. Fun fact: the last time the NYG lost a game to an undefeated team 38-35....they won every following game including the Super Bowl. Another fun fact: The last time the Giants lost the season opener (also to a division rival) as they did this year, they won the Super Bowl
Since the animosity will be running high when the Football Roommates of New York meet in a clash at the Meadowlands, today is a day where Giants and Jets fans need to give some mutual support. Let's face it: if you are a fan of the Jets or Giants, you at least know somebody who is a fan of the other team.
Show some support to New York Football this week everyone. Send a text, write a status, or just be happy for a touchdown. This is a day for New York football fans to come together.

New Trends of NHL Over/Under Scoring Lines
Surprising Trends of NHL Over/Under Scoring Lines
If you’ve ever bet on sports you know the thrill and you get why people do it. Often times you don’t even like the team you’re betting on but for the sake of your wager you cheer like it’s no ones business. The elements of a good sports bet are gathered from an array of sources. The ingredients of a typical wager generally consist of unequal portions gut instinct, expert analysis, inside tips, and a splash of greed from wanting to hit the long odds.
One realm of sports betting that has had some interesting trends lately is the Over/Under bets for NHL games. For anyone who has followed the game over the past few decades, it is clear that scoring averages have decreased since the barn-burner days of the late 80′s and early 90′s. (The graph below from QuantHockey.com demonstrates the change in scoring throughout the history of the game and its inherent changes.)
There are numerous factors that have lead to lower scoring games such as altered coaching and defensive systems, improved goaltending technique and equipment, and overall enhanced commitment to team defense.
What this all means for dedicated sports betting junkies is a lowered O/U line that has gravitated to a fairly consistent 5.5 per game.
In 2010-11 there were 5,550 total regular season goals in 1,230 games. That’s a measly 4.512 goals/game average.
With that said, we decided to delve a bit deeper to see if we could identify any trends for the 2010-11 season as well as the current 2011-12 season. What we found is quite interesting. We compared the number of games that had 6 or more goals in three different categories: Western Conference vs Western Conference games, Western Conference vs Easter Conference Games, and Eastern Conference vs Eastern Conference games.

- The NHL season is comprised of 1230 total regular season games.
The daily breakdown is interesting here. It seems that Wednesday and Friday night games in 2010-11 showed a spike in league-wide goal scoring and in particular the Western Conference match-ups. Tuesdays and Sundays were the only days of the week when, on average, the Eastern Conference games had more overall scoring than games in the West. Travel and varying game start times seem likely causes here (guess/speculation).
Compare that to what has transpired in the first 2 months of the current 2011-12 season.
There has been a pretty obvious shift in scoring trends here.In 2010 the Western Conference games averaged higher scores than those in the East. This year it has flipped; in a big way. The scoring is up in the East and the Western conference games are more often under 6 goals. Meanwhile, cross-conference games have remained steady in terms of Over/Under outcomes.
It is still too early in the season to decipher any meaning from the day-by-day statistics as the sample sizes are too small. By around mid to late January there should be a clearer picture of what’s actually going on on a nightly basis around the NHL.
At this point in the season, however, we can clearly see the overall trend is headed towards a mirror image of last years results in terms of Over/Under results with a 5.5 total goal baseline.
It will be interesting to see if this continues for the duration of the season or if things revert back to last years tendencies. This analysis will be updated every 2 weeks.
How to use this for NHL Over/Under betting.
This information is useful as a baseline guide for what to expect when approaching Over/Under NHL bets but obviously each unique game has it’s own unique factors to consider. The data does not account for individual team scoring averages, starting goaltender changes, travel schedules, player injuries, or adjusted coaching strategies etc.
As stated above, the science of sports betting is comprised of many parts and you have to use whatever information you have to improve your chances of winning.
