Jim Schwartz Tries to Fight Jim Harbaugh

One of Week 6's best games was the showdown of the NFC's two surprise teams: The 5-0 Detroit Lions and the 4-1 San Fransisco 49ers.

The 49ers won a nail biter at Ford Field, but it would seem that after the game, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz did not take kindly to his counterpart's behavior. You'll notice Jim Harbaugh was maybe a little more excited than your average coach, jumping up and down and delivering a forceful high-five and back slap to Schwartz.

Somehow, this action awoke Schwartz's inner Lion, and he proceeds to take off after Jim Harbaugh with confrontation on his mind.

Needless to say, Schwartz has to earn back a little respect from everybody for that display of temper. His job is to help a bunch of gigantic Man-children keep their emotions in check. This is not what we would call setting a good example.

This scuffle was no Andre Johnson vs Cortland Finnegan, but it sure is fun to watch the reactions!

Enjoy!

Hank Williams Jr. Attempts to Apologize

Brought to you by the popular YouTube comedy channel Barely Political, this parody depicts a take on what it would be like if Hank Williams Jr. attempted to apologize for his interview on Fox News a few weeks ago. Needless to say, he doesn't seem too sorry here.

Enjoy!

Following the interview (during which he said Barack Obama playing golf with Joe Boehner was like Hitler playing with Netanyahu), ESPN decided to drop his song "All My Rowdy Friends" as the Monday Night Football intro. Hank Jr. claims he quit.

LeBron Actually Winning Something?

In this commercial, aside from the MEGA diss (you'll see), LeBron actually wins something for once.

Despite the fact that the girl at the beginning does not properly react to winning a cool $1 million, LeBron is more than happy to win his free french fries.

Clearly, it wasn't the fourth quarter when he peeled off the sticker.

Greatest Beer Commercial of All Time

This could not sum up society and the ubiquitous prejudices that exist in everyday life. The video speaks for itself. We might have to begin drinking Carlsberg. Enjoy.

Will The Real Rob Ryan Please Shut Up?

Honestly, am I the only one who is completely sick of the Ryan family?

Rex and Rob Ryan talk more trash than teenage girls on Facebook, and to be honest it is a little ridiculous coming from two [very] fully grown men.

Rob Ryan matched and perhaps even exceeded his brother's most insane comments last week, by daring to insinuate that Calvin Johnson Jr is less talented than Dez Bryant or Miles Austin. He's referring to a guy whose nickname is 'Megatron'....seriously Rob?

When asked last week by the media how he would deal with Megatron, Rob's response was to say, “We work against better receivers with Miles Austin and Dez Bryant,” Ryan said. “They are probably two of the premier receivers in football, but this guy is right there. He’s almost that good. He’s excellent.

WHAT??

Well let's see: Calvin Johnson is a perennial Pro-Bowler, he has matched Cris Carter's record for consecutive multi-touchdown games, he is the first to do that in the opening 4 games, he is among the first 4 receivers picked in fantasy football every year...need I go on?

Johnson is a 6-foot-5, 236-pound physical freak of nature. He has a 43-inch vertical leap, and he is faster and stronger than his alleged competition on the Dallas Cowboys.

He scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter comeback by the Detroit Lions yesterday, and accumulated 58 of his 96 reception yards in that same quarter.

I'm sorry, has anyone ever seen Dez Bryant or Miles Austin haul in a touchdown catch in triple-coverage, AND make it look EASY?? No, I didn't think so.

Even better, the ever humble Johnson chose not to respond to Ryan, letting his play do the talking. His coach and quarterback were more than happy to step up to the plate on his behalf.
Jim Schwartz said post game: "Indulge me for a second, I am just glad that the third-best receiver on their team is on our team."

Even Jason Garrett said that Johnson is arguably the best player in the NFL, and Terrance Newman claimed it is difficult to cover a guy who "could play power forward for the Detroit Pistons." How true.

At least Rex has two consecutive AFC Championship appearances to brag about. Rob on the other hand, can just shut up now. He should stick a cheeseburger in that big mouth of his and call it a day. He's gotta gameplan the next collapse after all.

You know what they say: Empty barrels make the most noise!

Soccer's Slim Salaries

While the World Cup continues to improve fan appreciation and bring a new throng of loyal followers, the sport of soccer still trails far behind the other major sports in player salaries. Perhaps they set a morale example, or maybe they just don't believe their players deserve to have a plethora of lavish houses and a superfluous number of vehicles in the garage, but either way they have some money to raise. Soccer has a long way to go. Check out this infographic.

Breakdancing Phenomenon

While it's common knowledge that breakdancing, also known as B-boying, requires immense skill and balance, it never fails to impress when seen live. The most inspiring aspect of the breakdance battle is when they hug it out at the end, following a vicious battle. Enjoy.

NFL Referee Falls During Jets-Raiders Game

Despite a mediocre showing by the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon, losing 34-24 to the Oakland Raiders, there was quite the comical occurrence that can make fans smile. As the seconds dwindled off the clock before halftime, Jason Campbell was hurrying his team to the line in order to spike the ball and set up a 54-yard chip shot for power kicker Sebastian Janikowski. The referee, however, forgot to keep his balance while placing the ball down. C'Mon man.

Ironic, isn't it?

NFL Playoff Predictions

Hey folks, here is my list of teams that I think will be in the playoffs for 2011, ordered by seed. Plenty of old favorites interspersed with some new blood. Read the full slideshow on BleacherReport.com

With Week 2 in the books and Week 3 coming up fast, it is time for some early playoff talk.

Some teams like the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills have exploded out of the gate and surprised us all, while others like the Kansas City Chiefs have failed miserably to live up to the fans' expectations.

The Green Bay Packers still look like the team to beat, but what about the rest of the playoff race?

Teams all over the league are shifting, rising and falling in the standings. Despite having played only two games, we have gotten a good look at the strengths and weaknesses of many NFL teams.

Based on the way these teams have played one another so far, here is an early look at how the playoff picture could turn out for the 2011 NFL season.

John Mackey's Legacy

Hall-of-Fame Tight End John Mackey not only revolutionized his position, but was the poster boy for early-onset dementia in veteran players. Doctors found Mackey with frontal temporal dementia in 2000, the same year that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN he would push oft-concussed quarterback Troy Aikman when needed in crucial games because “there is no evidence of any long-term, lasting impact” from head trauma in the N.F.L. He couldn't have been more wrong. This New York Times article by Alan Schwarz points out the problems and the legacy left by John Mackey. A great piece of writing.

Darren Sproles does WHAT?

Here is another video in the NFL "Fantasy Files" series. We don't know how these guys do this stuff...but damn. The little man has some ups. For those of you who need more reason than this to pick up Darren Sproles for your Fantasy football team, just keep in mind that he is currently Drew Brees' favorite receiver, with the most targets on the New Orleans Saints' offense.

Enjoy!

The Coward that is Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It was a fight set with epic expectations. Ortiz vs. Mayweather. It failed to live up to the hype, yet showed fans the true colors of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Forget that the pretentious, self-entitled boxer continues to avoid the vicious Manny Pacquiao; forget that he always talks himself up as the greatest thing since sliced bread. The man is a coward. This video says it all. We officially love you Larry Merchant.

Cam Newton Does it Again

One week after rookie Cam Newton produced a historical NFL debut, racking up 422 passing yards against the terrible Arizona Cardinals' secondary, fans and pundits everywhere were certain he was due for a reality check against the vicious Green Bay Packers' defense.

In part, they were right, as Newton threw three interceptions with only one touchdown in the Panthers' 30-23 loss to the defending Super Bowl champions.

Still, against a defense featuring a hall-of-fame corner, a premiere pass rush and good run-stopping, Newton actually managed to top his record-setting Week 1 passing yardage total with 432. The rookie also added 53 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.

He now joins a group of just six quarterbacks to ever throw for 400+ yards in consecutive games, including Tom Brady, who joined the list today as well. The other quarterbacks on the list include Dan Marino, Phil Simms, Dan Fouts, Billy Volek and Matt Cassel. Young Newton has some pretty good company.

There are still plenty of trials awaiting Cam Newton before he fully proves himself, such as actually winning a game. However, it is safe to say that the Auburn Heisman Trophy Winner's NFL career is off to a rip-roaring start.

Tedy Bruschi should leave Ocho Alone

After last Monday night's game at the Miami Dolphins, wherein Tom Brady threw for 517 yards, perennial talker Chad Ochocinco tweeted that the New England Patriots offense and Tom Brady were amazing, and that he was "in awe". Using several other complimentary adjectives, Ochocinco declared his admiration for the way the Patriots play football on the offensive side of the ball.

Former New England linebacker and future hall-of-famer Tedy Bruschi for whatever reason decided that he was offended that Ochocinco had the audacity to tweet an opinion.
“Drop the awe factor, OK, Ocho, Chad, drop the awe factor,” Bruschi said. “You’re not a fan, all right. You’re not someone who’s on another team or watching TV. You’re not an analyst. You’re a part of it. They want you to be a part of it. So get with the program because obviously you’re not getting it and you’re tweeting because you’re saying, ‘It’s amazing to see’? It’s amazing to see because you don’t understand it. You still don’t understand it and it’s amazing to you because you can’t get it.

“Stop tweeting and get in your playbook. Wake up! If you’re just waking up now — I don’t know when this was, six minutes ago? — get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think it’s amazing. If you’re in it and you know what you’re doing and you execute out there you don’t think it’s amazing. You know why? Because it’s what you’re supposed to do. All of a sudden it’s second nature. ‘I know I was supposed do that, yes I went 99 yards, I threw for 517. You know why? Because we’re that good and that’s what we’re supposed to do and that’s what I thought we were gonna do.’ You are still in awe to be a member of the New England Patriots offense. Join the system, buddy.”

It could just be me, but I wonder where the hell Bruschi gets off going crazy on Ochocinco like this. Sour grapes that the Patriots are still good without him? Trying to impose some old-school mentality on a new-school player because he used to be a Patriot? He doesn't like Twitter? He doesn't like Tom Brady? It makes absolutely no sense.

I have no idea, but Ochocinco was merely trying to show his respect for his new quarterback and team. So it was his first game in a new system...Chad Ochocinco has been a great many things in his career....but slacker has never been one of them.

Honestly, Bruschi just sounds more like a grumpy old man than a wise former player imparting advice. For whatever reason that Bruschi doesn't like Ochocinco's loquacity, it really doesn't matter. He doesn't play anymore, and the tweet was definitely not inflammatory, so he really shouldn't even open his mouth.

Nobody would even be talking about Ochocinco's tweet if Bruschi didn't run his mouth. Instead we got a week's worth of media coverage thanks to him. So who is the real loudmouth fool?
